Stoneham PSF is Now Connected

The Stoneham Public Schools Foundation has just launched our own page on Facebook along with Twitter.  You can find us by searching Stoneham Public Schools Foundation on Facebook or Twitter or by clicking one of the buttons in the upper right.  By becoming a fan of us on Facebook, or following us on Twitter, you will be able to stay informed about the latest news on Foundation happenings and events.  Please pass around this information to your friends and family and lets see how many people we can get to become Fans of the Foundation or to start following us for the future.

What have we accomplished in 2009

While it has been a challenging year for the economy the Stoneham Public Schools Foundation has continued to receive strong support from the Stoneham  Community.  This year the Foundation has contributed to programs in the High School, Middle School and Elementary Schools.

In the Elementary Schools we have sponsored the Instrumental Music program for the first half of the year.  This has allowed all students, in the participating grades, the chance to take free instrument lessons for the first half of the year before having to pay part of the cost for the second half of the school year. This is our second year providing support for this program.

For the Middle School the foundation has again sponsored the intramural program for our third year.  This program is open to all Middle School students and provides after school activities for interested students.

At the High School our support has been more for academic programs and equipment.  For the second year now we have been able to provide funding in support of equipment needs for the Math  programs. This was made accomplished by community donations and a generous grant from IBM made possible by an IBM employee who lives in Stoneham.

While we start to look forward to the next school we hope we can count on your continued support.

Foundation Presents Check for Winte

The Foundation recently presented a check to the School Department for $3,600 to fund Intramural sports at the Middle School.  This was the first year the Middle School has had an intramural program since 2005.  The Foundation has also committed to fund the program for Read more…

Stoneham Public Schools Foundation 3rd Annual Road Race

The Stoneham Public Schools Foundation held its Third Annual Road Race, Race Walk and Community Walk.  Despite some rather damp weather we still had close to 150 registered participants making it another successful and fun event.   You can check out the pictures from the race in the Picture section of a Page on Facebook. Watch for future updates on next years event scheduled to be held the morning of the Stoneham Chamber of Commerce’s Town Day Celebration.

SPSF Funds Spring Intramurals and 2 AEDs

The Stoneham Public Schools Foundation recently presented a check for $5,600 to the School Committee.  $3,600 is to fund the Spring Intramural program at the Middle School while $2,000 helped provide two AED’s (Automated External Defibrillator) for the Middle School.  This was the result of an Eagle Scout project, by Chris Gardner, which helped to place 2 AED’s in each of Stoneham’s six public schools.
